With two other locations in Melbourne, Chapel Street is the pick of the three venues to enjoy this traditional Irish theme bar. A little out of place in this classy bar precinct, Bridie's offers unpretentious traditional Irish fare. There's Irish stew, Irish breakfast (a big breakfast with sausage and black pudding), bangers and mash - though there's also a vegetarian Asiatic stir-fry or eye fillet with baby spinach, creamy mash and red wine jus, as well as standard bar snacks and a scattering of healthy options.
With 17 international beers on tap, more in the fridge and an ample wine list, this is definitely a place to kick back with the boys. The interior is like a multi-level barn, with bar and beer the undisputed centre of attention, so not surprisingly the ratio of men to women is often high. If that's not your flavour, enjoy a meal and drinks on the front bluestone patio which is cordoned from the street and set with chairs and tables for a fresh alfresco dining experience.
