Brew

Grungy, industrial-looking and uber cool, this laneway cafe tucked between the Queen Street Mall and Adelaide Street is Brisbane's newest hidden gem. Brothers Brett and Mark Roland opened the doors in late 2010 with a reliance on word-of-mouth and a strong emphasis on social justice, both of which have brought in plenty of punters and interest so far.

Outside catering is sourced from an organisation that employs people with intellectual disabilities, and the liquor permit that allowed them to open as a wine bar on Thursday and Friday nights while waiting for a permanent licence was a community liquor licence, whereby any bar profits go toward a community organisation.

The coffee is Di Bella Nero blend, and the brothers have created a space that's warm and welcoming, despite its industrial looks. There are plenty of reasons it's making a splash; watch out for this one.
