Modern and sleek, the Bravo has been a standout venue in the dining mecca that is Fortitude Valley for more than a decade and is still as relevant today as it was way back when.
With the addition of the Bravo Bar.b.que taking care of the grilled side of things, the wine bar bistro has more time to focus on doing fantastic, modern Australian interpretations of French inspired food. The requisite salt and pepper calamari is given a twist by being fried in rice flour and served with crisp bean thread, while a confit pork belly with steamed, smoked pork loin ups the ante.

Noticable improvements!
I used to frequent Hotel Bravo a few years ago, and can agree with some of the older reviews stating that the service was lacking.
But I recently started going there again to check out the new menu, and I really have to say that I was REALLY impressed! The customer service has improved dramatically - the staff are *very* friendly, helpful, accommodating and efficient!
The menus also surprised me - the food was delicious, and the drinks were also of very high standard! They offer great specials, as well!

Great food, shame about the service
We booked a table for four at 6.45pm. Two of the dining guests were coeliacs and they could not believe the great choices for them on the menu.
The food was lovely. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and mains - we decided to go somewhere else for desert as there was only one gluten free option.
The service on the other hand, is up there with some of the worst I've had.
We sat for a good 15-20 mins before anyone bothered to acknowledge us. We had to ask them to order drinks (the wine we ordered they actually didn't have), call them over to order our meals, wave to get our water glasses topped up, and in the end we gave up and went to the bar to pay after trying unsuccessfully for some time to catch someone's eye for the bill.
The bad service was a real shame, because the food was great. They could also do with improving their acoustics as it was extremely loud, even early in the night when the restaurant wasn't full.

Wonderfully satisfying!
While researching gluten-free menus and restaurants for one of our friends who was dining with us, we happened upon the wonderful Bravo Wine Bar and Bistro. It would have to have one of the largest selections of gluten-free meals that we have seen and whether you have a dietary requirement or not, you have so much to choose from. The menu is just superb.
Service on the whole was very prompt, and we were attended to quite quickly on a busy Saturday night. For entree, I had the smoked tarragon chicken salad, which was scrumptious. My partner had the yellow fin tuna nicoise salad, which he also found very tasty. Our dinner guests had the stir-fried tiger prawns and beef fillet strips and also commented on how very enjoyable their meals were. The servings were exceptional and we must admit that we did not know how we would fit our mains in.
For the mains, my partner and I enjoyed the truffled eye fillet steak and it was just beautiful and would have to be one of the best steaks that I have had for a very long time. Our friends had the kangaroo rump and the fish of the day. Both were equally impressed, and I must say that the kangaroo looked fantastic.
The other wonderful thing, in addition to such an extensive menu, was the wine list which included a very wide selection of wines by the glass. Great for when you want to try a few different wines without breaking the budget.
Bravo has a very busy and energetic atmosphere and is obviously a very popular destination for dining in the Valley. Funky but smart decor adds to the experience. The restaurant can be a little rowdy when the bar gets busy, but it has such a fun atmosphere, that this really is not much of a problem and the restaurant itself is tucked privately behind the bar area.
We left the restaurant very full and satisfied that we had eaten very well. We will be back again, and will have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to others. Just fabulous!
