In the late 1960s, the dolphins of Monkey Mia began a tradition of following the fishing boats to shore in hope of a fishy morsel or two. Now they come into the shallows three times a day for a free snack of fresh fish, but one has to wonder whether they may be lured by the aromas of the Boughshed's gargantuan seafood platter. For visiting tourists, feeding the dolphins is undisputedly the main attraction, though few can resist an amble up the beach for a breakfast of scrambled eggs on toasted crusty Vienna bread with smoked salmon julienne or freshly made pancakes topped with blueberries and maple syrup. The dolphin feeding is usually over by noon, just in time for lunch. The deliciously crisp honey chilli chicken and mango salad should not be overlooked, and neither should the house speciality, fish and chips. Dinner is a little more sophisticated affair and is just as popular with the locals from Denham and day-trippers from Kalbarri and Carnarvon as it is with the tourists, as is the small but oh-so-refreshing list of cocktails.
