back to Bouchon bistro
Well what a Surprise! Back at Bouchon after a while and the food is still fantastic. But that is not surprising, it is allways consistent. The real surprise is from the waiters, young, dynamic and doing just what they have to do: being there when you need them. It was a lovely evening. will go back very shortly for the cabaret night.

up and downs
Bouchon Bistro is a paradise for food lovers, amazing degustation menu, tasty, original and beautifully presented. French wines are good, but service is a nightmare(knowledge is not the key word for the waiter people). Very god value for money.

A craftsman is at work
I feel not worthy to have enjoyed such a fabulous meal. I thought I could cook and now I know what it is to enjoy the food of a true craftsman. Enough about me and more about the meal!! My guest and I enjoyed a meal of duck and veal. The detail of every aspect of the meal was incredible. Presentation was exceptional. The selection a complimentary flavours and textures was superlative. It was beautiful chemistry. Portions were the perfect size and as it was our first visit we know that next time we could enjoy entree, main and dessert without feeling bloated..... and our senses will thank us for it. See you soon on a future visit.

An absolute hidden gem
This cute and quirky little place gave me an outstanding evening to remember. It was a fairly busy night and I was out to dinner with my husband, we'd decided to try French food for something different.
Little did we know what we were to expect! From the sumptuous appetisers and gorgeously fresh warm bread to start of the evening, as well as a lovely traditional French aperetif... to the decadent 3 course meal where each dish stood out on its own.
The presentation of the food, the timing of it, everything was outstanding. The staff were very friendly welcoming, and engaging and were great at being able to recommend wines that went with different meals, as well as explaining the menu.
There is nothing to complain about with this place...definitely takes the love of food to a new level, with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
I'll definitely be going back, and recommending it to others. Do yourself a favour and experience it.

Worst ... service ... ever.
On Saturday evening we visited Bouchon Bistro to try their degustation menu. Our evening started badly when after an hour we had yet to receive anything more than a basket of bread. Things went from bad to worse when a tray of champagne was dropped down the back of one of our party. The disorganized cleanup summed up the staff perfectly, as one girl tried in vain to cleanup 8 smashed champagne glasses with some paper towel! Things didn't improve when after almost 4 hours we had only been served 3 courses. To add insult to injury the drink service was no better, with most of our glasses spending up to half an hour empty.
At this point I attempted to pass on the concerns of the table with the front of house manager and this is where it got really insulting. His attitude left a lot to be desired, choosing to to argue about our concerns rather than accept them as constructive criticism. He actually blamed the chef, which really blew me away, particularly when the table had just finished telling him that the food was the only positive to the night thus far.
From there on the evening just went downhill. The entire table was so tired by the end of the meal that all we wanted to do was leave once the cheese/dessert course was over. Instead the wait staff pleaded with us to stay for another special course - the chef had prepared an extra dessert even though many of us had just eaten cheese. Then the bill arrived. It had incorrect charges, including numerous glasses of wine charged as bottles, and we ended up having to get a calculator out to work out what the table had really had. When we finally attempted to pay, the same front of house manager abused one of our party and failed to offer the slightest discount despite the evening's disaster.
The whole process took over 5 hours from start to finish. We have visited many restaurants offering degustation menus around Perth in the last 12 months and this certainly rates bottom of the list. When you pay upwards of $150 a head you expect good food and good service, and yet the Bouchon staff could hardly pronounce some of the wines and knew absolutely nothing about them apart from what was written on the bottle. Despite all of these shortcomings however it was the complete lack of acknowledgement and apology that real left a sour taste in our mouths. It was a very bad experience and we shall not return.

Really impressed
Could not fault one aspect of this cosy restaurant. Warm baguette and butter were placed on the table without asking, the amuse bouche was delicious, the waitperson very knowledgeable in the menu (we quizzed her quite a lot) and the food was delicious (not huge portions but good enough if you want to enjoy entree, main and dessert).

Fantastic food and comfortable atmosphere
Every mouthful of this meal was wonderful! The small, magnificantly presented, divinely tasty portions left us feeling extremely satisfied.
More expensive than was stated in the official review, but still worth every dollar!
The interior, which seemed so dark when we first stepped in from the daylightsaving brightness, increased in atmosphere after dark. But of particular note was the spaciousness of the venue... No crammed-together tables and minimal noise (despite being quite full) meant our party of ten could comfortably have conversations the length of the table.
A sullen waitperson resulted in the service being the evening's only downfall.
Overall, a most enjoyable evening - we will be back!!!

Its what's inside that counts
This was an amazing restaurant. Firstly, the ambience isn't dimly lit as stated in the official review. It's quite bright and the furniture is far from desirable. But that's why it's a bistro! It's all about the food, wine and the service.
The portions are small but again I reiterate that this is about quality not quantity. The food is exceptionally presented and the wine list is exhaustive and complementary to the food.
