Bokchoy Tang

Giving a makeover to traditional Northern Chinese dishes, Bokchoy Tang serves tried and true steamed dishes, handmade noodles and dumplings, then ups the ante with organic meats (including the steamed spare ribs) and exotic noodles, like those in the Beijing duck and Shandong noodles with Chinese cabbage, ginger, bean shoots, chilli and spring onions. While you're enjoying your meal you can take in the fabulous CBD views from the third-floor position in Federation Square.

Best Noodles in Melbourne!
Far out brussel sprout! I think I may have stumbled upon the best noodles in Melbourne! The photos above doesn't do Bokchoy Teng any favours. Admittedly when we walked in we were thinking this place is a bit swanky and a far cry from Supper Inn! A live pianist, awesome and skilled staff (who even showed us how to recreate their napkin folding - twas a lotus flower) ... initially we were all craving Won Tons, but couldn't find such naffness of the menu so picked up a Golden Noodle dish and Crispy Duck with Pancakes. The noodles were insane! Not at all like those crispy ones that you can buy from the supermarket, but these were like ... wowsers! They were soft and crispy, perhaps hollow, but definitely the best noodles in Melbourne. Don't let the location or swankiness put you off this little restaurant owns Chinatown anyday!

Worthwhile
A hidden gem. Great mood, lovely food with a good range of options across meat or seafood, some good spicy options also. The cashew chicken and Mongolian beef in black bean was excellent and the dumplings were tasty. Very attentive and professional service. Decor is very classy and a decent selection of wines. Only gripe was that some of the lunch options were not available for dinner as a starter but otherwise pretty faultless really.

Best-kept secret
A modern decor with lots of character complements the delicious food! The banquet menu (I) showed off great flavours and colours and was great value. The NZ Marlborough Pinot was far too easy drinking...Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Definitely the place to bring visitors to Melbourne!

Very nice food
Great food. Definitely one of those Chinese restaurants where they practise the yin and yang of cooking, with the best dumplings ever. Beautiful dark wooden tables with a huge glass lazy susan - although that didn't leave much room for our plates. It was very surprising to see how dead it was on a Friday night, as it’s situated in Federation Square. The service was good, though could be a bit more friendly. We loved the live piano. I was very disappointed with the fact that they were too posh to have fried ice cream on the menu, yet they had green-tea ice cream, which, if I am not mistaken, is a Japanese thing.
