Bluegrass is one of the best, though perhaps one of the least well known, restaurants in Alice Springs. It has some great credentials, fabulous food and is one of the few Territory restaurants to be acknowledged by the national foodie press.
Situated on the corner of two busy streets, it doesn't have the most attractive outlook - that of a busy intersection - but diners can turn their backs on the road and admire the pretty courtyard, which is full of leafy trees and dotted with colourful lights after dark. One of the restaurant's best features is the blackboard menu, which keeps regular diners interested with a myriad of tantalising dishes.
The chefs not only make amazing food, with seafood flown up from Adelaide and traditional pavlovas whipped up on site, but also prepare interesting and unique cocktails using fresh tropical produce. Bluegrass is also a wine lover's paradise, with a list featuring more than 100 wines, including Champagne from Epernay, France, and plenty of wine conveniently available by the glass and half bottle.
