Blue Smoke BBQ

Armed with a reputation that's hardly up in smoke, Blue Smoke BBQ is renowned for arguably being Brisbane's only authentic barbecue joint. Cooked in a traditional American style, the slow-smoked and chargrilled steaks and juicy ribs come in appropriately generous sizes, from Texan beef ribs to the famous buffalo chicken wings. Southern-style lunches are available during the week, while an innovative range of salads should satisfy the less carnivorous.

Love it
This was my third time here with a group of 14 people. The buffalo wings are the only ones I have found in Brisbane so far that are pretty much exact to American wings - those along with the Kansas ribs are awesome! Good service. One thing they could use though are refresher towels as it does get a bit messy.

A Great Feast!
The meals at this establishment are big on flavour and big on BIG! We have been here many times with friends and have never been disappointed. We even got a spot on the television show 'Food Safari' while dining there. Service is good, not personable, but good. Try it out. Fantastic for men with big appetities.

Never AGAIN!
Went as a group of 10 for dinner. Drinks were served quickly, food came out within reasonable timeframe. Food was OK, my partner thought the apparent "best Ribs in Brisbane" were very bland as not much sauce, I agreed and had to ask for more sauce which was not well accepted by the waitress. DO NOT ORDER ANY SIDES - friend ordered a side of Potato Salad which was about the size of my IPOD and was over expensive, friend even asked if that was it and the waitress staff were again very rude.
After about 1 hr 15 mins, the owner or Manager, not sure, came up to us in the loudest voice he could possibly have and told us to leave as we had been there to long and to basically get out so they could have other customers seated. We had just been given the bill and were adding it up but were told to get out of our seats - worst service ever. I will never go back - and for a place who prides itself on the ribs, its overrated.

Ruined my night.
I can see why everyone loves the ribs at BlueSmoke! They are delicious and simply fall off the bone. Unfortunately, I would never return, as the service was appalling. We had a group of about 10 people. The waitress brought the food out complaining that the plates were 'very heavy, and please quickly tell her what you ordered' very rudely. THey were clearly not happy being there, and shoved us the bill early during the evening. We were then kicked out at 10pm (they close at 10.30) because they were apparently 'closed now'. We then stood outside chatting, and was ordered to move so they can easy access to the doors? Our night was pretty much ruined by their service.

Americana for your canivore
We booked early dinner seating, after ordering our meals we enjoyed a cob of warm, sweet, freshly baked corn bread. The buffalo wings were spicy and succulent. I highly recommend the blue cheese sauce for the buffalo wings. It's creamy, rich and tangy enough to compliment spicy buffalo wings. Plus it serves to cool your palate, which is great you prefer mildly spiced food. We both ordered half serves of ribs, one lamb and the other pork, and the serving is pretty big. However we found both dishes well seasoned, lightly smoky, tender and so perfectly cooked that it seemed a crime to waste a morsel! Mentally noted that one needs to bring a serious appetite to Blue Smoke. The only downside I could find, was the lack of finger bowls, or damp hand towels, to clean your hands with between courses. As there's no escaping it, this is finger food, and it did get pretty messy! Bookings are essential as the venue is somewhat small, and busy. I think that this is what carnivores might imagine is dinner is like in heaven!

Up to all expectations !!
After reading many reviews on this place, I was looking forward to eating there. Well I was not disappointed. The service was great, food came out really quickly. We had the wings and as we do like things a bit spicy, we went for the 'Blue Smoke' level, this was way too hot, I thought my lips were going to melt off. So on a first visit I would recommend starting at the mildest level for everything. Even though it's on the other side of town for us, we would definitely go back !!

Great food great staff and all around great atmosphere!
I am from the states so I have been looking for a restaurant like this. The hot wings are what keeps me coming back every week. The pulled pork and the ribs are amazing also. I go every week now so I can take advantage of the half price wings on Wednesday. I highly recommend this place.

Although staff nice to start with, my plate was taken away while I was still picking at my chips (no cutlery on the plate), the bill was brought to the table without asking if we were ready and rudely cleared the table totally while we were still chatting. Very clear they were in a rush to get us out all before 10pm of a Friday night. Food wasn't that special either.

Despite the good service, the ribs are sub-standard. They were small, dry, burnt and lacked smoky flavour. The wings and the corn were the best part of the meal. Corn bread is passable. Not good value for money.

Tried and true.
Have to admit - I have read a couple of poor reviews on Blue Smoke recently and I was very worried. It is one of our favourite places in Brisbane! However... Blue Smoke lived up to all our previous visits and then some. It was Wednesday - so cheap wings night of which we ate many. Corn bread arrived - a little dry, but still amazing. Baby back ribs still as wonderful as ever. My only complaint - and I have had this since they opened - is that you always get chips with the BBQ dishes. I think a selection of sides would make this meal almost perfect. Great service to boot.

Disappointment
Full of anticipation of our third visit to Blue Smoke to have our favourites - pork belly with a side order of cornbread. No cornbread was offered or even on the menu. The much anticipated slow cooked pork belly was just cooked (very pink) and the fat not even rendered down and the meal was just not pleasant. Thank goodness the baby back ribs of the usual enjoyable standard.

Solid meal
The ribs are the best I have ever had. And the buffalo wings are dominant. So good, after only having one wing each we ordered another plate. The blue cheese and chilli sauces are solidly dominant. The size of the meals were ample and massivly filling. The staff were the best I have had for a long time, funny and very friendly.

Best buffalo wings & ribs
I'm a big fan of chicken wings and haven't been able to find great chicken wings in Brisbane that lived up to my favourite restaurants(Elephant and Castle in Dublin where I lived for a couple of years). Blue Smoke has come to the rescue, the chicken wings are divine as was my partners smoked beef ribs, the meat fell off the bone and the slightly smokey flavour added to the delicious dish. The meals are a good size and simple, most served with chips and coleslaw which doesn't detract from the real star of the main options = the ribs! Definitely recommend Blue Smoke if you are craving that American-style barbecue flavour and great chicken wings.

Loved it!
I have added this to my favourite restauarants in Brisbane list!
The food was great - we had buffalo wings as an entree, and being from Buffalo, NY myself, I can vouch for these wings - just the right amount of hotness and sweetness.
For mains, the five of us had rack of lamb, pork belly, and spareribs. We all agreed that it was delicious and barbecued to perfection.
The service was perfect, with a friendly and charming American waitress who was very efficient.
We'll all be back!

A carnivore's delight
Went here with a group of 10, every need was accomodated, drink service was speedy, had a very friendly host named Michael who looked after us all night. For starters we decided to order the famous wings, in original and blue smoke (level of hotness), we did not have the courage to try the 3rd degree burn wings! The wings were very tasty and served with celery sticks and a blue cheese spread. Mains came out quickly, everyone else opted for meat in various forms, I opted for a blackened Atlantic smoked salmon caesar salad. The price is rather high, but you do get huge serving sizes. A very good night out.

Pretty good
Been here twice. The cornbread with honey butter is divine, warm and meltingly delicious. Found the carnivorous menu to be pretty accurate of my travels in the US, but the flavours did not quite hit the mark. The buffalo wings were slightly too 'sour' and a damp cloth wouldn't have gone astray to wipe one's fingers. In fear of a smearing of horrible sweet bbq sauce we asked for the ribs with the sauce on the side. However this made the ribs a bit dry, they probably need to be cooked in the (as suspected) sweet sauce. Definitely give this place a go, it's the real deal and cheaper than a flight to the Carolinas.

Smoking Good!
One of the best things in the southern United States is the barbecue and boy does this place make you feel like you're back home with its warm cornbread, hot wings, smoked ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. It's absolutely wonderful!
