Blu Ginger

Don't let the bright modern decor deceive you: Blu Ginger is well connected to its traditional Indian roots. The red, brown and orange hues that envelope the walls, tables and chairs do indeed hint at the Indian flavour, while large glass windows and red art deco chairs outside show off the more cosmopolitan edge that's also part of Blu Ginger's personality and charm. This intermixing of traditional and modern flows over to the food, which features classic chicken, lamb, beef, vegie and seafood curries from regional areas of India, as well as all-new creations to suit Australian palates. Lovers of classic curries might enjoy the mild goat curry or the coconut-based panjim fish curry, while more adventurous diners can savour the almond pumpkin lamb curry or the baingan patiala, a deep-fried potato and eggplant dish that is seasoned and cooked in a secret sauce. The second Blu Ginger venture from the same team who run the McMahon's Point eatery in Sydney, this restaurant keeps the vibe going from morning to night.

solid performance
I've been here with mates and enjoyed the whole meal a lot. The starters are tasty and there isn't much of a wait to get the next course. Lots a flavour in each dish and it's also a great setting for a function.

Highly recommended
We have been to Blu Ginger at least half a dozen times for lunch and tea and love it. The food is delicious -I didn't think I was a great fan of indian food till I ate there :-)

The service we have received has always been great although I do agree with Charlie87 that sometimes it takes a little while to sort out the orders. But it is worth it as the food is so good.

The only downside we have found is that it can be a little noisy when busy.

Outstanding
The food at Blu Ginger was fantastic. The menu is more varied and experimental than your local indian, and the atmosphere is classy and comfortable. I have been on several occassions and would recommend samosa and onion bhaji for entrees, and the butter chicken (of course), lamb madras and sagwala for mains.

While the service is always friendly and attentive, the waiter I had most recently was a bit arkward and could not keep track of which dish went where. Saying that, Blu Ginger definitely has the best curries in Canberra and I've tried a few!
