Bistro Vue

Shannon Bennett has well and truly taken over Normanby Chambers, with Bistro Vue joining Cafe Vue as a second sidekick to the ultra-luxe original Vue de Monde. The bistro forms the middle rung of this culinary ladder, offering an a la carte alternative to the cafe's jaffles and gourmet lunchboxes, while still staying joyfully accessible for an everyday meal.

The classic French roots of Bennett's innovative cuisine are displayed on the menu, which emulates the traditional backstreet bistros of the City of Light. Diners can perch elbow-to-elbow at the bar for a quick bite of moules and frites; or a plate of freshly shucked oysters. The rest of the menu might feature French onion soup or a duck confit with du puy lentils. The $32 plat du jour (including salad and a glass of wine) is a bargain-basement blessing for Bennett's fans, offering a easy taste of Vue without committing to the decadence of the original.

Anniversary celebration - very happy with the Bistro
The service was exceptional and the food was just the same. There is no passing this place without ordering the 'Souffle au chocolat'! But let's not get ahead of ourselves, start with an entree first :-)

Overall a successful outing for our anniversary, top place.

A little reminder of france
My friend and I discovered this place only a few months ago and its a regular favourite for us. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and it reminds of a typical restaurant you would find in paris. The staff are incredibly helpful and lovley. The food is truly excellent! The wagyu with goose fat fries is fantastic! Be sure to save some room for dessert, the creme brulee is done with perfection as well as the chocolate souffle but the stand out dish is the pear tart tartin served with a vanilla anglaise!

Great evening out even with the 2.5 year old
Great service and very accomodating with young one in tow. Ask for table 8 if sitting with young ones so they can be corraled in the middle of the semi circle booth.
Food was fantastic. Onion soup served with a pastry lid made a nice change to the standard grilled crouton and cheese.
Wagyu beef fillet was a carnivores dream.
Goose fat frites made a nice side (and also kept 2.5 very happy) with the creamed spinach a must have.
Pear tarte tartin wicked!
Overall a very enjoyable evening and a very easy place to relax with family and friends.
