Sad change
This was my first trip to Bistro Stock in about 18 months and on arriving it was clear there had been a change of ownership.

I only had a steak and I couldn't eat it. My partner had a risotto which he also found he couldn't eat. The wine list is also very limited and we had to go to the bottleshop after arriving there. Given the price (which is the same or very similar prices as before) the quality of the wine list and the food, should be much better.

Great food
Great cosy location away hidden behind Darling Street with a great atmosphere with your choice of the bistro-like dining area or regular restaurant area. The food was very nice and waiters were very helpful. It was above my expectation given the negative reviews I've read on the restaurant in the past. There's also a small two-hour free car park a few metres away from the restaurant off Beattie Street, which saves some frustration in finding a parking spot in the narrow streets of Balmain. We had an entertainment card which was well worth it!

A safe Stock, well-priced
Bistro Stock has quickly become a darling of locals in Balmain. It is run with professionalism and friendliness and serves comfortable bistro food. Duck dishes are especially good and sauces are always skilfully reduced. I recommend this place to people so much I should get commission. 10% maybe. Tim Lester
