At first glance, the bistro menu appears to be simply staggering; the entrees stretch on forever, and, over three pages, the menu tramps through soups, salads, light meals, grill items, house specialties, roasts, veal dishes, poultry dishes, vego dishes, seafood, desserts and even a handful of humble offerings for the ankle-biters. But, on closer inspection, many of the meals reveal themselves as slight variations on the same dish. For example, prawns appear in various guises: in a creamy garlic sauce, with chilli and rice, on top of steaks and schnitzels, deep-fried or chargrilled in a caesar salad. Suddenly, it doesn't look too daunting.
Devotees of traditional bistro fare will delight in the warm, hearty meals on offer, from the lunchtime roast roll with chips and gravy to the homemade beef lasagna with tomato concasse. It probably won't blow your mind, but it will fill you up - although on the off-chance it doesn't, the generous list of desserts will quash every last ounce of hunger you have left.
