Bistro Felix

After a change in ownership and a complete gutting of the interior, Bistro Felix has risen from the bones of Atlantic Restaurant. The elegant interior is swathed in white linen and dark timber, broken only by European-style advertising posters on the walls. This hint of the Continent is mirrored on the menu, which features contemporary cuisine, liberally splashed with European flavours and techniques.

Great Food & Service
Went for dinner there with my partner.Could not fault the food or service however due to the restruant being packed it was noisy and the music was loud.
Spoke to the waitress and had the music turned down. We will go back maybe after the festive season.

Highly recommended
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with a fantastic dinner at Bistro Felix. Welcoming and knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere, and absolutely brilliant food.
We had oysters (both types on the menu) to start - great presentation, and fresh, creamy flavour. With French champagne by the glass to accompany the oysters - what better way to head into a fine meal.

The veal carpaccio was reported by the wife to be sublime, whilst the whiting and kedgeree was another take on the best fish in the sea.

The bayleaf sorbet between courses was a wonderful, refreshing and unique surprise. We enjoyed the duck and the snapper as mains, accompanied by some beautiful hand cut chips and well-made aioli, and a mushroom melange. After all that we made an effort with dessert - enjoying the peach and white pepper brulee, and the vanilla iceream with pedro ximenez and a great almond biscuit. Absolutely excellent food, presentation and atmosphere throughout!

The only slight muckup came when we had to ask separately for a cup for my wife's tea (the pot of peppermint tea was served with a jug of milk (?) but no cup.

A pleasant surprise at the end of the meal - the staff fitted most of our dinner into a recession-buster special, saving considerably on the menu list cost of the meal.

We'll certainly be back.

They've lost some of their "ZING"
The anticipation of what we had previously experienced at the Restaurant(Fantastic),some two years ago, began to unravel almost immediately. Once seated, we waited 25 minutes+, for any sign of an offer of drinks or Menu. The waitress for night was friendly enough, & after the slow start, continued to be attentive.
The Menu promised much, but overall, failed to deliver. The party of eight, had offerings from Entre, Mains & Dessert. Before we started ordering(7:30p.m.) we were advised, that there was no more of the soup Entre, oops!
There were the usual smudges & blobs of sauces across all courses, which might make the Chef feel good, but do nothing to enhance the dish. The flavours of the Mains was generally muted, based on the mutterings of the diners. Indeed, it wasn't 'til the Desserts, there was a lift in the standard of flavour & presentation.
There is an extensive & expensive wine list. Some of the charges would make your nose bleed, even for bottled water.
At the end of the evening, a big bill, & nothing much to show for it, pity really.

It's whatever you want it to be!
Now here is a place you can go for any occasion, and glam up midweek if you are in the mood, as my best friend and I did just for fun. There's a feeling you could be on holiday in Paris.
This was my second visit and equally as perfect as my first. My friend had the Pont L Eveque, (like a long cheese pastie! and I had the pork with bacon and cider glaze. We shared some perfect green beens with sage and roasted garlic. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, our waitresses and the maitre'd were flawlessly elegant. We never had to look for them or had them hovering nervously. (The waitresses were particularly brave for wearing the strange lemon yellow nurses uniforms...., but anyway!!)
Just be careful of the $8.50 charge for a bottle of still water,I know it's standard these days but you may as well have another beer or wine!
I love my bubbles but was careful to look at the winelist before agreeing to either of their proffered bubbles by the glass. I am glad I did, as one of them was $24 a glass and the other $12. We were perfectly happy with the $12 wine but may have choked on the $24 glass as it was our first drink and we had 3 each.
I have organized a family table for my Mum for her 65th birthday in a few weeks. Sadly she is the person who dines out rarely but always gets the bad meal, raw, burnt, late etc,I know I can safely take her to Bistro Felix and she will not be disappointed.
Keep up the good work!

It was OK
We decided to visit Bistro Felix again on an unplanned night. The restaurant wasn't that busy and we were offered seats right next to the bar. We should have asked for another table as this turned out to be a source of irritation for the night.
The service was OK, nothing special for this type of restaurant. Our first course was duck parfait - very nice but very few biscuits for the amount of parfait. We asked for more but were offered more bread that we didn't want - too filling so unfortunately half the parfait went to waste.
For main course I had the Harvey Beef - medium rare. This was OK. for me it was too chewy, the accompaning vegatables were nice. My partner had the Pont L Eveque and she enjoyed this. The irritation with our location was that the waitresses kept bumping into our chairs and offered no apology.
For dessert I had the creme brulee which was very tasty.
Things started going badly wrong after this. We were offered coffee or tea of which we declined. In the next breath the bill appeared - hang on we have not asked for this! We actually wanted an after dinner drink. This arrived but was swamped in ice so much that it drowned the taste of the drink.
More attention to detail would have made this a much more enjoyable night.

Highly recommend
As soon as you walk into Bistro Felix, you can't help but anticipate the fantastic fine-dining culinary experience you're in for. The place looks large but feels intimate and is elegantly-furnished.

The service was great. The waitresses seemed to be well-acquainted with the food on the menu, and were very helpful in explaining what the dishes were, what the flavours were like, what was popular and what they would recommend themselves. They were attentive and discrete.

We took advantage of their weeknight 3-course special. I had the crab souffle for my entree, which I would not hesitate in recommending- the flavours were interesting and well-matched. The steak with sherry sauce I had for my main was generously-sized and cooked perfectly. The desserts didn't disappoint either. I had the roulade which was very light and refreshing with the raspberries, a perfect way to finish an excellent and very satisfying meal.

I would highly recommend this place, it's great value for a fine-dining venue.

Bistro Felix is hot, hot, hot. The funky lounge music is calming as you take in the dim lighting, the wood topped open bar, the stunning French prints on the wall, the mix of tables and booths. The whole team, from sommelier to our charming waitress, is top notch, particularly for a city facing a huge labour shortage in the hospitality industry. The waitress we had could explain everything on the menu and was there when needed and disappeared when not.

The wine list is like a short novel. There are two pages of wine by the glass each with little explanations which I thought was very helpful. There is also a sexy, exciting cocktail list with lethal creations such as the Pomegranate Negroni and the Lychee and Green Tea Caprioska.

As an entree I chose the rabbit croquette, served on a bed of jamon and chestnuts. Daring, delicious and perfect for a winter's night. My partner had the game sausage with duck, venison and rabbit. It was rich and rustic. It was obviously made on the premises and served with a parsnip puree and a fig and apple relish. Wow. A nice touch is the palate cleanser before mains, a sorbet of raspberry (bright pink!) served in a tiny martini glass.

The mains arrive in a decent amount of time. I don't mind waiting when the atmosphere is so funky and the wine is being topped up but there were no qualms here. I had the venison served medium rare on a bed of sorrel, carrot and blueberries. The venison is so tender it melts in your mouth and the blueberries give it a lovely tang. My partner had the fish, fresh barramundi with crispy skin. Served with Jerusalem artichoke, roasted fennel and a creamy fishy sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection.

We were not disappointed with dessert! The creamy vanilla pannacotta was breathtaking. And tangelo/olive oil cake with its own tangelo ice cream was the best little square of cake I have ever tried. That's saying something!

Food was out of this world, service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was very Melbourne/European - amazing!

You've got to be kidding?
Had lunch here recently with a business associate after hearing a bit of hype... some good, some bad, so I thought I'd check it out for myself. We had a long delay after ordering before we recieved any food (2 x main courses). When it did finally arrive after 45 minutes it was cold and on cold plates. The service was off hand and we recived no response at all to our complaint. Better value and service to be had a many other establishments.

Fantastic
Had a fantastic dinner again on Saturday, great place to bring clients. You know the service will be perfect and the food was outstanding. Best wine list in Perth, great artwork and atmosphere. Good value considering the quality of the product and service. Consistent, well done!

Dissapointing
Went for dinner Saturday night with great expectation after hearing all the hype about Bistro Felix. Upon arrival we loved the ambience of the place, nice lighting etc. We arrived on time at 8.30, but our table was not ready - waited at bar for 15 mins. Service was OK, but I think your order being taken one hour after arrival is a joke! Our main meals did not arrive until 10.40 and they were nothing worth waiting for. Food was exceptionally bland and boring. I had the marron entree and the pork belly main. The marron itself was delicious, nice and fresh but the sauce with it was extremely salty. The pork was very disappointing, boring and bland, chewy, especially the crackle. I dined with three others and we all had similar comments on our meal; one in our party could not even eat the entree as was too salty. Staff asked about it and it was whisked away but nothing offered in its place and it was still included on the bill. Not the sort of meal I expected from a place of this standard. Maybe being from Melbourne our expectations were too high - oh well, at least the Pies won!

Subi's latest and greatest
Went for a meal last Wednesday night with much anticipation, with all the hype surrounding this restaurant. The night started badly as we did not have a booking, but we eventually got a seat. I found the service to be off hand to a point of being rude. No advice was offered on wines to match food, even though it was asked for. I also hated the obvious sell ups (would you like sparkling or still water) when all I wanted was tap water. What was strange though was I watched the table of 2 next to us get almost fawned over by whom I assumed to be the manager/owner. Food was good , but not excellent, and the wine list was superb. It was marked up at between 200 and 300% though. All up $220 for an entree and main, and 1 bottle of wine. Better value and service to be had elsewhere.

Subi's latest and greatest!
My dining experience at Bistro Felix absolutely lived up to the buzz created prior to the restaurant's opening earlier in June. It now holds (hopefully with great pride) a reputation of sophisticated food complemented by an extensive wine list from both Australia and Europe. It leaves you wondering "Atlantic" who? as Bistro Felix mimics and becomes a reincarnation of the old Subiaco greats like Altos.

Bistro Felix has snatched the best hospitality staff I've ever encountered from the Maitre'd to the attentive waiters with their vast knowledge both of menu and heightened sommelier skills. Pemberton marron on kipfler potato slices, with bisque mayonnaise, and gribliche sauce was an absolute pleasure to eat. I had the fish of the day, snapper caught in Onslow that morning.

I cannot urge you enough to experience this place for yourself!
