Big John's does giant fresh pizza, huge seafood platters and generously sized meat dishes. If you don't eat meat, try the delicious vegetarian pizza with a fresh Greek salad. Bring your appetite and make a reservation as this place books out quickly. The wine list is well priced and features wines from around Australia.

terrible service
I'm not one to rant and rave but I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. The first time I ordered take-away pizza and was told it would be ready in 40 minutes however ended up waiting an HOUR AND 40 MINS with NO COMPENSATION. On my second visit, we were given the WRONG ORDER (I foolishly did't check before I left but assumed I wouldn't have to) drove all the way back and was served by a rude lady who wouldn't provide compensation in any form. I politely advised her I would be telling people not to go there and her response exactly 'you do that'

Food substitution
Went there tonight with my family, ordered a seafood platter for two. Took more than 45mins to arrive. Ingredients were not the same as stated on the menu. Balmain bug ($50 per kg) became undercooked blue swimmer crabs (worth only only $10 per kg). Mussels became calamari rings, a large snapper became a small unidentifiable fish. Baby octopus became a large leather-like squid. Ask the waiter. Oyster was not fresh. Did not bother telling us they ran out of the main ingredient when order was placed. Waiter was rude. Never will go there again.

If you want size rather than quality
This place is busy, noisy and cramped but in some ways this adds to its appeal. The food portions are huge but what suffers is the food quality. Little care is shown in presenting the food and the flavors are passable without being great. If you want good service, then this is also not the place for you. Also not the best place for families with prams as you're virtually sitting on top of each other with little room to move. Not the place for a romantic dinner nor would I rush back with the family purely based on the poor service. This place would probably be ideal for a rugby team gathering rather than a person seeking a more refined eating experienced.

Not worth the wait
Maybe Big John's is too big for its own good. I took my kids to the Sans Souci restaurant for my birthday and not only was the service super-slow, but my meal never came. Luckily I was able to scrounge my my kids' leftovers to eat!

Great tasting seafood
BBQ seafood meal was awesome. Great taste and the seafood was fresh. Serving was huge. Absolute value for money. This is what a restaurant is really all about. Good food and enough of it to satisfy your hunger. Well done, will return.

Pre-order cause the service is really bad
Everyone goes to Big John's for the food. The servings are HUGE and you are guaranteed to be taking left overs home with you in a doggy bag. Prices are reasonable too. Extremely good value. We go there all the time. But if you know what you want, I'd suggest you pre-order your meals. The service is really slow, and none of the staff smile!

I have been to Big John's Pizza restaurant many times, the food is just excellent. Atmosphere is pleasant, being in an old building where the restaurant is located makes you feel like you are in Italy. Service is the only area that needs improvement!
