Once a historic pub, the Beresford Hotel is now a multifunctional venue, with the Tasmanian oak bar, cobblestone courtyard and leather-clad indoor seating area perfect for a range of social outings. Well-known for its award-winning bar staff, the Beresford Hotel also offers tasty Italian-style pub food for lunch, dinner and casual dining. The kitchen is headed by renowned Tuscan chef Gabriele Taddeucci and diners enjoy everything from pasta to slow-roasted lamb. The garden-style courtyard is perfect for after-work dinner and drinks, attracting tranquillity in the heart of cosmopolitan Surry Hills. It's also great for the start of your night, as groups can enjoy woodfired pizzas and fries with roast garlic mayonnaise by lantern light.

Fantastic food et al
I can't believe what I've read in these reviews. I have now been there twice and haven't been treated that well at too many restaurants before. The second time I went, I couldn't have been happier. My main was the Wagyu Beef which was to die for - tender and tasty. The dessert was nice but the personal service we received was second to none. I'd go back time and time again if I could.

If you want to be treated like dirt
I have had bad experiences before, but this place took the cake. From the time we entered we received a pretentious attitude from the security, the bar staff and the staff at the restaurant! I felt very uncomfortable at the end despite out $500 bill. I am sorry but this place's bark is WAY bigger than it's bite. Great fitout, but it is ruined by the rude staff... my advice, if you have someplace else, don't bother.

Horrible experience
We went here for dinner on a Wednesday night and definitely won't be back. The menu selection was good and food relatively tasty(with some odd selections) but portions far too small and very overpriced for what it is. The wine list was a total joke with nothing local and just overpriced imported wines. We had no idea what we were ordering. The atmosphere was lacking - there is no physical barrier between the restaurant and the pub so we had drunks walking past the table. The service was slow and the attitude from the staff was intolerable. The owners would be appalled to know the way the staff treat the patrons. On the whole, the Beresford tries so hard to be "chic" and "trendy" but fails - and fails miserably at that.

Keep on walking
This place looks great from the outside, and read OK in reviews, however getting past the doormen is a hassle and when you get in the rudeness continues. Our meals were ordered together however they came out 15 mins apart...when asked 'why?' we were told very curtly we could leave if we did not like it, so we did.

Beresford
The hotel has a great atmosphere, the bar is gorgeous and it's fantastic to see a stylish beer garden. The restaurant flows into a passage way, so try and get a table towards the kitchen. As for the food, there were a lot of appealing dishes on the menu and the entrees and mains were quite nice, especially the sweetbreads. We had four desserts between six of us and were hoping for a nice surprise with the eggplant and chocolate dessert - just awful! The other desserts were also very disappointing, maybe they should stop trying so hard to be clever and go back to basics...
