Now situated in Fremantle's pretty, heritage-listed Old Fire Station building, the Bengal originally started in High Street in 1981. The vibe is eclectic and fun, with many of the backpackers staying at the upstairs backpackers' hostel getting a bit of work in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is warm and comfortable, with brightly coloured walls and a friendly atmosphere, and the food is very authentic, with plenty of vegetarian options.
