With comfy wicker chairs and worn brick walls, Belucci's looks like the cosy Italian institution that it is. Located in a 19th-century former tram terminal on the water, pulling up a seat here is often the logical conclusion to a day by the bay. The menu here is conveniently split into "traditional" and "classical" Italian cuisine, with the former list embracing pasta favourites and simple antipasto fare. While the kitchen's style focuses on simple combinations and flavours, more complicated dishes can be found on the "classical" menu, with dishes such as chargrilled calamari on garlic and sweet pepper salsa; or pappardelle with slivers of dry-aged wagyu, king prawns and olives.

Disappointing
I booked Belucci's for my mum's 60th birthday celebration. My parents had travelled over 3 hours to get to Melbourne and celebrate this occasion with their children and grandchildren. On arrival, we were met at the door by a waiter, but with no hello or greeting. I had to start conversation. There were not enough menu's for all of us. We waited over 10 minutes before drinks were ordered and there was only 4 other people in the restaurant. Garlic bread came, no plates were provided. The meal order went smoothly and everyone received their meals, which was good. The quality of the meals was not great for the price. However, the space is quite lovely. Overall I was very disappointed. The restaurant is located in a great position and has a lot of potential. For a Saturday night the restaurant was very quite and the service was not great. The waiters need a little more training and nurturing I believe from the owner. I just believe that this restaurant needs to lift its game as it has a great feel and a lot of potential! Come on Belucci!

Belissimo
Last night we dropped in for dinner and were very very pleasantly surprised. I'm not usually a huge fan of Italian food but everything we had was superb. The bruschetta was piled high with tangy, fresh tomatoes and herbs, the garlic bread was delicate. Fish of the day Snapper was cooked to perection with a beautiful crispy coating. The stand-out was the linguine marinara- my husband ordered it and I wanted to swap! All the seafood in the marinara was good quality and fresh, the napoli base was the best I've ever tasted, and the portion size was perfect. We'd enjoyed everything so much we decided to see what the desert were like. The Tiramisu was so fluffy and and light we ate it in about 3 minutes. Prices are very reasonable and service is good- it wasn't too busy either. We'll defintely be heading back to this little gem!
