Rediscovered this gem in the rocks
We enjoyed a lovely meal - felt very well looked after from the moment we walked in the door and thoroughly enjoyed the food. This is a fabulous restaurant that we had actually forgotten about, it was a very pleasant surprise when we went back after a break of several years. I love the ambience and view of the harbor. All the food was delicious, from the amuse bouche through to the highly recommended chocolate dessert and everything well-priced for the standard. All aspects from the friendly staff, yummy cocktails at the bar through to the beautiful cheeses served at the end of the meal made us put Bel Mondo back onto our list of restaurants to visit.

Perfect Example of What Dining Out Should Be!
From the moment we arrived, the maitre'd and staff at bel mondo treated us like old friends and made us feel very much at home. Having heard so much about this fabulous restaurant, friends and I spent a very enjoyable evening there last Saturday. We all ordered the 2 course dinner options for $49 (this is exceptional value) and sat back and enjoyed the views and ambiance . Entree highlights were the kingfish tartare and carpaccio of beef. The mains were all excellent, very tasty (particularly the lamb and barramundi dishes) and were prepared to perfection. We all thought the food was outstanding, The service was also very professional and our waiters and waitress's did not miss a beat. The dishes arrived in a timely manner and empty plates removed like clockwork, all with an affable attitude and smiles on their faces. The wine list also deserves a special mentions, with a very good array of varietals and vintages, and perfectly matched to our dishes by the very knowledgeable sommelier. I would not hesitate to bring anyone here, from my best friend to an important client.... what a great place!

Terrible service
I booked on the strength of the review here and the harbour view. We got there to no view, the dining room looks onto the rocks, there's a glimpse of bridge. It was an excruciating 90 minute wait between entree and main. The meals were ordinary, service poor and there were no customers. On the walls were review hats from a bygone era. I would say, save your dough, go elsewhere. And what was with the beetroot it came with everything. Even dessert! Terribly disappointed.

what can i say, PROFESSIONAL!!!
bel mondo how its changed from the last time i came, which was 12 months ago. The new chef there has moved it to new levels, the food was amazing, the snapper i had, was cooked to perfection, and the choc/beetroot fondont OMG!!!, the presentation was simple but yet very effective, service was amazing as well, the english gentleman in the suit made me feel like nothing was ever a problem,as the young french men made me feel like i was in a 3 hat restuarant,the service was swift and professional, hats off to belmondo for the great night, and i really hope its a hat on in aug 2009, you guys deserve it, see you soon
