On the left of the quiet, yet slightly bohemian Orwell Street lays Bay Bua Vietnamese Restaurant. Nestled in an undercroft as part of the Springfield Towers residential complex, this humble eatery's facade is nondescript - blink and you'll miss it. The dining room is a large open space and easily accommodates the simple tables and black chairs dotted around the room. Its focal point, an opulent bar complete with marble bench-top and ornate rose-gold wallpaper, contrasts sharply with the mostly minimalistic dining area.
While this restaurant's decor is mostly simple, the menu boasts some very traditional Vietnamese fare. On offer are a mixture of dishes that are as delighting to the stomach as they are to the wallet. Dishes such as calamari stuffed with pork, and scallops with snow peas, are prepared by chef Ngan Thi Do, who has a respectable 17 years experience behind the burners.
