Basils At 297


Once a tapas bar, this space in the pretty town of Orange now houses a contemporary diner, serving bistro classics with a twist. Pop in for dinner and you might find starters such as coconut and macadamia-crusted chicken strips; or salt and pepper squid - a perennial favourite. Prime cuts are the stars of the mains menu, with dishes such as pork sirloin stuffed with orange, apple, pine nuts and chives; or a warming dish of lamb shanks braised in a textbook-style Italian tomato sauce and served on a bed of mash. Naughty dessert options such as white chocolate panna cotta or Baileys and Mars Bar cheesecake will keep cocoa fiends happy, while lighter alternatives include tangy citrus tart.
