In a prime location overlooking Cottesloe Beach, Barchetta doesn't just let the ocean waves do the romancing, offering a sumptuous variety of delicious Italian, Spanish and Mediterranean dishes. Free range eggs feature highly on the morning menu, while woodfired pizzas steal the show in the afternoon, alongside fresh paninis and salads. At night, a veritable smorgasbord of seafood and grilled delights offer much to be savoured, such as Abrolhos Island scallops with warm baby pea salad and mint vinaigrette, and Amella Park cutlets of lamb with basil pesto. An impressive wine list boasts Margaret River varietals on the same page as Italian reds and French whites. Labelling its dress code as "Speedos to suits", Barchetta morphs from casual to classy from day to night.

An absolute gem!
The parking gods were kind and I got a parking spot at the entrance to Barchetta. Entering the bustling, modest-sized beachfront cafe, we were immediately welcomed by a friendly waitperson who provided us with menus and politely requested we be seated at a table of our choice. We settled at a table on the deck overlooking the ocean - the view absolutely stunning.
Barchetta has a wonderfully casual atmosphere with service that is absolutely on the mark. When you're ordering, when you're eating, when they clear your plates away, the waitpeople seem genuinely cheerful, patient and determined that you have a great experience. Our glasses were never empty in the hour and a bit we spent enjoying our meal at Barchetta.
I loved the crab spaghettini which was tossed with pine nuts, currents and chilli and topped with toasted bread crumbs. The serve was generous but not overwhelming; surprisingly light and a perfect dish for brunch. My dining partner had the chicken caesar-style salad with parmesan, prosciutto, bacon, croutons and cos leaves. He found it a beautiful dish except for the minutes he spent picking out the bits on anchovies they'd secretly tossed through his salad... poor anchovy hating man.
Barchetta is a cute little cafe with fantastic food, friendly and top-notch service, yummy coffee and magnificent views.

Good food, good service, good view!
Barchetta is a favourite and today's breakfast was no exception. Starting with a friendly face, who should be flustered considering the roaring trade the cafe pulls, instantly welcomes and a table is found. Its position over Cottesloe Beach is stunning.
The girls at Barchetta are on the mark. When you're ordering, when you're eating, when they clear your plates away - always cheerful, patient, finding time to enquire how your meal is going.
I love the pancakes, which are currently a three-tiered stack accompanied by a berry compote with a dollop of marscapone. Perfect. Barchetta boys never burn your coffee; they make it right and make it beautiful to look at too.
