There's a new sheriff in town at Bar Zini and his name is Damian Krigstein. Charlie Bruyer may have left the building but when his replacement is this good it's hard to be too sad. From the cafe's little kitchen, Krigstein spins out a series of pizzas, salads and delicious handmade pastas. Among his culinary gems might be such dishes as a pappardelle with prosciutto ragu; however, the menu changes daily and depends on what was fresh that morning.

The Antidote
When you're on a business trip into Sydney, the hotel precinct often puts you close to the city or Darling Harbour. It also presents you with an astonishing choice of Asian restaurants, and while I am a fan of Asian food, several days and nights of it tends to make me yearn for simpler cuisines. Bar Zini had what I was looking for, in a quiet section of Harris Street close to, but most definitely distinct from Darling Harbour and all its trappings.
