Bangkok

Bangkok opened more than 25 years ago, well before our current obsession with Thai food. It's not hard to see it's been such a winner. The food is always sharp, clean and fragrant, with few changes to their style since they opened. The wine list may have expanded, but the signature dish is still stir-fried prawns with hand-made noodles.

Excellent & affordable thai
This is the restaurant that was upstairs on the corner of Rundle and Frome Streets for so many years.
Now that it's on Waymouth (practically next door to the Cumberland Arms) it's clearly not getting the walk-by traffic it needs to get the patronage it deserves.
Okay, the venue might not be quite as plush, but it's at least as good as so many chinese restaurants on Gouger St that get completely packed out, and the food is great! I've eaten there twice recently and been very satisfied both times. The food has the wonderful fragrant flavours that thai food lovers delight in, and it's really good value for money too.
The service is polite and attentive. It may be worth taking your own wine though - the choice was a tad limited.
But this place deserves to be a roaring success, as in former days!

Terrific Takeaway
I picked up a takeaway lunch from this little gem and was blown away with the quality and taste of the food. Green chicken curry was up there with the best I've eaten, pad Thai was lovely and the standout was the homemade spring rolls with vemicelli and an excellent sweet dipping sauce. Service was very friendly and efficient and I look forward to going back to dine in and support this great little place.
