Marry a candy-colour interior with traditional Indian cuisine and you'll be halfway to describing inner-city hangout, Balti. Balti is a sweet treat for Perth suits, and perfect for wrestling those tricky closing deals or celebrating a big win. Originating from the Portugese during their regular seafaring excursions to India, the word 'balti' is the literal translation for 'bucket'. This traditional form of cooking is a Pinjabi recipe, prepared by way of using curry-style dishes originating from Northern India and cooking them in small copper buckets. Not all the dishes on the menu are cooked using the balti style, however. Other items include an excellent tapas platter, consisting of creamy oversized goat's cheese in a herb crust, dhal-filled samosa bon-bons, zesty barbecued King prawns and tandoori chicken with an onion floreat. The chef's signature dish, chicken chettinad, is wonderfully tender with a pleasant back-kick, served in a light but generous tomato and hops sauce.

Small portions, over priced.
Went for dinner, not many people in there, service was quite slow, we ordered a platter for 2 to share and naan bread. The platter was very small and would have suited as a starter but we were assured this was a main course, $90 including a bottle of wine and was still hungry, wont go back.

Nice but not great value. The service was not that great either however the interior was quite beautiful.

Bad Custmer Service
I made a booking on Weds for dinner at 10pm on Fri. I needed the latest seating, as we were going to a show and wished to dine when it had ended. As the restaurant was just across the road, I called and asked them what was the latest I could book. The gentleman I spoke to replied 10pm. I booked a table for three people. Fri afternoon I received a call telling me they didn't know who I spoke to, but they didn't take bookings after 9pm. He was quite rude about it, and said he was paying me a courtesy by letting me know. A bit late, as I couldn't find anywhere else and had to cancel dinner plans
