The job of Bacco Wine Bar is to take you out of work mode and into a chic, sophisticated and sensuous zone ruled by the seductive pleasures of Italian food and wine. In its own nook underneath the escalators in Chifley Plaza, Bacco easily meets the above premise with its clandestine mood and not-so-secret kitchen antics (the open kitchen lets you check out the chefs in action).
It's all the more enticing when you peruse the regional Italian antipasti, meat, fish, cheese, tapas, salads and desserts, but the real stars are the handmade pastas. And let's not forget the reason why it's called a wine bar in the first place - the temperature-controlled cellar contains many Italian and international varietals to complement your meal. Prefer cocktails? Bacco's range is just as Italian as you'd hope.

We need more of this
I love Italian food but I generally avoid Italian meat preparation. At Bacco Wine Bar, I followed a friend's recommendation and enjoyed a fantastic lamb main. The whole table enjoyed great meals for around or under $30. Accompanied by a quaffable Chianti... this is the kind of great value dining experience that Sydney needs more of.
My only hesitation was the location (part of the Chifley plaza) but I soon ignored my initial apprehension once I was seated at the intimate bar to enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine.
