Standing out on Bunda Street, this bright modern cafe sits in the North Quarter dining district of Canberra Centre. Formerly in Allara Street, Babar Cafe & Bar now rests comfortably next to the Dendy Cinemas, making it a suitable spot for a pre-movie nosh. It's also a casual hotspot for local workers and socialites to enjoy a coffee, brekkie, pizza, pasta or perhaps even a cheeky glass of wine. For pure indulgence, the bakery section offers tempting handmade truffles and cakes such as the Mars Bar cheesecake and the Tia Maria chockies.

just very ordinary
Nothing stood out here. If anything, was the below averageness of it all. With so much choice in the city, there isn't much reason to return.

we won't be going back
We ate at Babar's on a typical Canberra Saturday night - the place was busy, but not packed. The staff seemed hassled and our waitress almost rolled her eyes when we asked for a sauce to be served on the side. I ordered the prawn and chorizo risotto and was served a bland cereal bowl of half crunchy, half soggy rice floating in oil with about 3 pieces each of the (frozen fried rice style) prawns and chorizo. I was glad I filled up on the breads we ordered as a starter. I would have sent it back if I could have got someone's attention. After reading jleigh88's comments above, I'm almost glad they ignored me.

Terrible service
Last night i ate at babar and had the worst dining experience EVER. I ordered bruschetta- which was extremely soggy and tasteless ( it was basically tomatoe and bread saturated in balsamic vinegar )Not to mention it was extremely over priced. I politely asked the waitress if i could send it back and have it swapped for another meal. Shortly after a gentleman that worked there strutted out and shouted to my table " So who has a problem with their meal" Basically: he was extremely rude to me and told me if i dont like it- then its my own problem because thats how they make their food and that he was not allowing me to swap my meal. I have never been so insulted in my life and will never ever go back again.
