Ba Ba Black

Anything but the black sheep of the family, this eccentrically stylish little cafe was welcomed into the local community with open arms, and now attracts Perthites from far and wide. However, you could hardly say that Ba Ba Black has followed the herd. With its maximalist-style decor - a mix of classic decadence and funky '60s kitsch - it certainly stands out from the crowd. You can ensconce yourself on a plush red velvet couch under a chandelier, or relax on a retro-print sofa in the lounge area.

It would be worth coming for the flamboyant furnishings alone, but you'll find equally justifiable reasons to visit on the cafe's menu. You can't pass up the opportunity to try the coconut pancakes for breakfast, served with a seasonal fruit compote and double cream. And at lunchtime, you shouldn't overlook the marinated lamb salad with roasted pumpkin, couscous and pomegranate molasses, or indeed the chermoula chicken, served in a salad or Turkish bread sandwich. Wash it down with a coffee or a freshly squeezed juice, and walk it off in the nearby park on the shores of the Swan.

Great place to eat
Wow, what an excellent experience. The place was flat out but service was prompt. The food was to die for. The atmosphere was great with many of the customers seeming to be regulars. I always love going where there are regulars, it usually means good food and this was no exception. Think I will become a regular myself!! I dined with a fairly large group and everyone was wrapped with their meals. A great place to eat in a wonderful location. The walk after the meal topped off a great experience.

Food was average, service terrible, the staff got my wife's and my order wrong, and instead of trying to recity our orders, they offered the food we didnt want at a discount, even though we didn't want it. They finally gave us our orders as correctly and we paid full price.

Ba Ba Black
We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We ordered potato and spring onion cakes with spinach, poached eggs and hollandaise ($15.50) and also a baked ham and cheese croissant ($9.50). Food arrived in a timely fashion and serving sizes were decent (I was impressed with the amount of spinach in the poached egg dish). The poached eggs were nicely done and the potato cakes appeared to be made in-house which was a nice touch. The decor had a retro feel and the cafe is quite cozy. Whilst we enjoyed the food we were disappointed with the customer service which we thought to be sub-par. This was due to a misunderstanding (on both sides) over a missed order which should have been easily rectified but was turned into a big issue by staff. Overall, good food but disappointing service.

WOW!!!
Finally a funky place that serves all-day breakfast! We went down on a Sunday and were hard-pressed to find a seat. The place was buzzing. The staff are casual yet friendly, willing to assist any way possible. The menu was varied, even with our fussy vegetarian company finding ample to choose from. The pancakes were to die for! Great coffee, great food and great service! We will certainly go back and make it a regular breakfast outing.
