Located at Mount Hawthorn's The Mezz shopping centre, Azure Restaurant is an exercise in cool, casual and chic dining. This diner, lounge and patisserie has a bright and breezy feel, with its azure cushions and placemats, and embossed white walls. Drawing upon many years of experience on the international culinary scene, owner/chef Christian Fogliani piques the curiosity of many a hungry gourmand with his well-presented Modern Australian/Mediterranean offerings. You may find anything from slow-braised pork belly to spaghetti bolognese in the restaurant section, while sweet-as-pie fruit tarts allure at the patisserie counter.

Great value for money
I was very excited to try the new restaurant on the Mt Hawthorne strip and I was not disappointed. Visiting with four friends on a Saturday night, the place was virtually full when we arrived at 7:30pm, so book in advance. Food: The menu has some great choices, although I would say a little disjointed. No clear theme was apparent but there was an obvious Asian and Italian influence. Standout dish ordered for entree was the prawns with scallops Asian inspired and impeccably presented. The warm winter salad was also very tasty. Whilst not ordered by our table, the very popular pork belly for main looked amazing all diners at a table of 8 ordered this dish each! Unfortunately, the salmon ordered by our table was over cooked and the beef cheeks on polenta were very tough. When asked if the salmon was ok by our waitress, our fellow diner was honest but diplomatic. The waitress clearly was interested in our opinion and no doubt went to relay our comments to the chef. Dessert choices were deliciously decadent but our table couldn t go past the value for money cocktails. Service: I don t think I have received such professional service in a non fine dining restaurant in Perth before. The waitresses were attentive, but not in your face. My coat was taken to be hung up as I sat down; water glasses were filled without asking. Dishes came out promptly but leaving sufficient room between courses. Could not fault! Atmosphere: A buzzing family friendly suburban restaurant which, whilst full, was not too noisy. Lighting was a little bright. Price: Definite value for money. With the entertainment gold card, our meals came to just under $60 per head, which included entree, mains, shared dessert, cocktails and corkage. Corkage is an astronomical $15 per bottle with the cheapest bottle being $30 to purchase. Whilst lacking the wow factor, the food was tasty, servings on the larger size and good value. I will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.
