Avido Restaurant & Wine Garden

Preaching the foodie philosophy of seasonality and sustainability, this modern diner has certainly struck a chord with Paddington's eco-foodie crowd.

Don't get the wrong idea about Avido; it does much more than preach. Having chef Jamie Thomas (formerly of St John Restaurant in the UK and Victor Churchill Butchers) rattling the pans in the kitchen means that the produce used is first rate and meat eaters are spoilt for choice. The Mediterranean slant of the menu also gives vegetarians a host of dishes to choose from, with a pumpkin and amaretto risotto with goat's cheese and sage proving the pick of the lot.

Avido Wine
Avido is a great addition to the area. The Wine Library up the Rd is a little more slick which might suit an older crowd, but Avido looks certain to become the cooler younger cousin.
The food was great and not trying too hard, wine list very solid and improving, staff friendly and gave a tour of the courtyard which unfortunately at the moment is still a work in progress, but looking forward to a warm summers evening. The night I was there was a little quiet, but was a local unpretentious crowd enjoying the attention of the staff and the relaxed vibe. Sure to be a hit considering the lack of decent alternatives to the pubs in the area.
