Good Large Serves
We got takeaway for the first time. We have been for lunch & dinner a few times before. I have always got the sandcrab lasagna. Huge serves although I think you'd be hard pressed trying to find the sandcrab. I think they've been scimping in this area lately. But still very nice. A popular place. I think I actually prefered having take away enjoying it at home as the decor & atmosphere in the cafe is alot to be desired even though they have had recent renovations.

Value for money- Great Italian Food!
I am quite a fan of Avanti's as is my partner- we have been there about 10 times in the last year. Our usual dining spots usually involve minimalist food that focuses more on presentation and the fancy factor, however when we are in the mood for large servings of hearty, tasty and good quality Italian food we head to Avanti's. The wait staff are always friendly and attentive and the food on offer is great value for money. The place is always bustling- so probably wouldn't recommend Avanti if you're after a quiet romantic dinner.

Mediocre
Avanti has been open for ages now - has to be at least fifteen years - and it's always busy. Which would appear to be a high recommendation, except when one considers that you could find any number of McDonalds around the city that have been open just as long and are just as busy.
And this is the crux of Avanti - the emphasis of the operation seems to be the business side of things. The food is OK, but nothing special. Probably the best that can be said of it is that it always comes out quick, the service is efficient and servings are nice and large. As someone who lives nearby I've noticed the signs out the front of the restaurant are always boasting of the extent of the menu. And whilst it certainly lives up to the boasts, I'm not sure this is necessarily a good thing. The best restaurants I've been to frequently have menus of 8 mains or less - a few dishes that are done with exceptional skill, care and precision, rather than a vast array of easily assembled meals.
The decor of the restaurant is fairly spartan and has little in the way of charm. It opens onto a bus stop and a busy road on one side and a carpark on the other. Its Bardon location is close enough to Paddington, Rosalie and Park Road to raise the question: why come here? Well the best answer I can think of is that it might be a public holiday and nowhere else is open - Avanti seems to never close its doors.

If you're only looking for good Italian food
This is the place to go. The food is always impressive and it is value for money. This restaurant is always busy, so it can be noisy and the tables and chairs are sometimes crammed into small spaces.

Always a Pleasure
Thank God for Avanti. Always open (or so it seems) and always excellent. Huge menu, reasonably priced, friendly owner. The wine menu leaves some to be desired so BYO wine, nothing wrong with the beer though! We would definitely rate Avanti as the best Italian restaurant in Brisbane.

Always a great place for a relaxed lunch
This is about the fourth time I have been to Avanti and every time it has been great. Seeing as it was Father's Day, I took my Dad and Mum. Dad had the scallopini al funghi and declared it was delicious - I tried some and it did have a nice creamy sauce. Mum had the risotto but she said it was a bit on the heavy side for lunch. I had carpaccio with a green salad which was excellent - thinly sliced veal with lots of mayonnaise (almost too much).
The service is pretty good - the wait staff are courteous and attentive, and the atmosphere is lively though it can feel a bit squashy sometimes because it is such a busy place.
But if you are looking for a nice Italian cafe that serves plenty of good food (lots of variety) that won't cost an arm and leg, I highly recommend Avanti.
