In case the blindly obvious is something that escapes you, this Euro eating house, tucked away in a quaint sandstone cottage, specialises in schnitzels.
With a dozen different toppings to add to the humble schnitty, the Austrian Schnitzelhaus is the north shore's temple of all meats crumbed and fried. The schnitzel challenge (1kg of schnitzel, chips and a litre of beer) borders on insanity but does separate the true schnitzel fanatics from the amateurs.
Not surprisingly, the menu revolves mainly around crumbed meats and the different toppings to put on them, with the laudable addition of some spaetzle (egg noodle) dishes for vegetarians. If, however, you aren't in the mood for a schnitzel, the whole roasted pork knuckle is definitely worth a try. Remember to save room for dessert, which is, of course, strudel.
