Despite what the name might suggest, this is no backpacker cafeteria. The restaurant, housed in the old stables of this traditional pub, is definitely for grownups. It's certainly more upscale than both the front and upstairs bars, but the extras go far beyond the white tablecloths ad tastefully renovated room. The menu is fully fledged gastro-pub: classic dishes, but not as you know them. The entree of rissoles are made with wild rabbit, and served with a sweet corn puree and a red wine reduction; while the grill of the day might be Bangalow pork rack with apple and peach puree and crushed potatoes. Even the pizza menu has flair, with choices like the Peking duck with shitake mushrooms and hoisin sauce.
