Atlas Cafe

Atlas is known for its casual fine dining, and serves up a mixture of Modern Australian and French cuisine. Named after chef Bart's love of travel as much as it is after the old Newcastle baths, Atlas is a five-star restaurant that serves up some of the best fish in the Hunter. The menu changes by the week.

Good but not great.
So much potential but a little disappointing. Went on a Saturday night and we were one of only 3 tables. Meals were lovely but overpriced for what we got... and we were amused by the claim it servies up some of the best fish in the hunter when there was only one fish dish on the menu. Service was absolutely outstanding (though they did only have three tables to serve so you would hope so!). Overall a nice experience but I think they need to reduce the price of their dishes by about $5 and overhall the decor a little - maybe paint a couple of walls a warmer colour so it's not so stark, and have some ambient background world music to reflect the name! then it would be an absolute winner and well worth a visit.
