From the same owners of Assaggio Ristorante in Hyde Park comes this spin-off cafe in the north-eastern Adelaide suburb of Campbelltown. Spacious and welcoming, this bustling cafe looks thoroughly modern in appearance, from the bold red "Assagio Cafe" logo printed on the charcoal black walls to the thin dark mahogany-hued tables. The attractions don't stop there - you've got a whole menu ready to woo you with its considerable charms, including pizza, pasta, salads and meat, chicken, pork and veal specialties done in a traditional Italian style. Dessert lovers may take to the pastries, chocolates and gelati like excitable Roman emperors licking their lips right till the end of a feast.

Great Father's day lunch
We had the loveliest lunch at Assaggio Cafe. Just coming off an illness, I ordered the chicken soup. Wow! In my top three soups of all time. Creamy chowder like soup with shredded chicken was absolutely delicious. All other mains on our table were much appreciated and enjoyed. The servings were huge and a few could not finish their meals. Kids meal options were great but my 3 year old wanted crumbed chicken (not on menu). Waiter checked with chef, not a problem. The pizza (off normal menu) for the 5 year old was gobbled up. Though I thought the crust looked a little thick. The waiter who served us was happy, attentive and a little mad in a good way. He was hilarious. I gave dessert a miss due to aforementioned illness but they looked amazing. Our table chose Tiramisu, in-house made gelati and baci panacotta. Demolished apart from the huge serves of gelati...they were massive. The restaurant was packed for Father's day but all our meals were timely and the service could not be faulted. Definitely requires a return trip where I can choose anything from the huge menu. Only negatives was a smallish car park, so had to park down a side street (it was raining!), half a dozen restaurant goers smoking out the front (cough cough) and a dark restroom, I like a bit more light in my bathroom.
