There's an Antico of some description, be it a cafe, bar or ice cream parlour, in practically every town and city in Italy. It's not a chain, the name has been around for generations and become something of an antique itself. Like many of its European namesakes, Antico Caffe is a family-run affair that celebrates Italian traditions such as a lively ambience, warm hospitality and authentic home-cooked fare. Sicilian-born brothers Carmelo and Tino Pintaudi are the brains behind the outfit - Carmelo being the charismatic front man and Tino taking the lead in the kitchen.
The house speciality, involtini di maccheroni, is maccheroni tossed in napoletana sauce, enveloped in slices of eggplant and topped with baked ricotta. Furthermore, you'd have to travel far and wide to find a poultry dish quite like the involtini giulietta and romeo (rolled chicken breasts stuffed with breadcrumbs, prawns, mushrooms and herbs, served in a cream, mushroom and garlic sauce atop garlic bread.) Surprisingly though, Carmelo and Toni's wine list is almost exclusively WA wines, with only one Italian sparkling wine on offer - praise indeed for WA's wine producers.

Antico
Had my birthday dinner here. Was a friday night so a bit busy, tables are well spread out so doesn't seem crowded. The food was excellent, especially the pizzas. Good italian servings. Have booked again for dinner with friends.

If you want to be greeted, seated and served with true charismatic Italian flair, you'll enjoy this. The food was good quality Italian and lots of it. A little noisy but part of the atmosphere. Been a few times for lunch as you can rely on its consistency to take friends there.
