Named for the Hindu goddess of food and cooking, this much-lauded North Hobart eatery serves a range of dishes reflecting the regional variations in Indian cooking. Drop by during the week for some authentic southern Indian dosa (thin and crispy pancake filled with spiced meat or potato) or uttapam (a thickly fried pancake topped with diced capsicum, onion and tomato and finished with roasted mustard seeds and curry leaves). There's a range of Indian beers on offer, with the compulsory Kingfisher the standout.

I love this place. Great food. Great location
We had 6 nights in Hobart just after New Years Eve, travelling with our 11yo son and found this place on day 4 - it has by far the best Indian food in the city and the prices were ok.The banquets are all really very good.
