Maybe a bad night?
I went with my partner for my 30th, and although I found the floor staff to be polite and friendly, I was a little disappointed in the food. Perhaps I had too high an expectation, due to the great reviews it had received, but I had to wait a little while for the entree, although when it did come, it was nice. For the main I had the duck and although I was impressed by the presentation, I found it a little overcooked and tough to eat. It was a similar situation with my partner's pork belly, that being a little too overcooked. The flavours were nice, but for dishes of that price, I was expecting something more amazing. Perhaps I'm being over-critical, but I had specifically chosen the restaurant based upon its reputation for excellent food and I just didn't feel like it delivered. Then again, it could have just been a bad night, but a multi-award winning restaurant should never have a bad night.

Special occasion
My husband and I often go to Canberra. We always go to Anise for its amazing food and precise, friendly service. Their wine list is extensive and tempts us every time. Justin who runs the floor is always there to greet you and make you feel at home. I recommend anyone who wants a great night out to go to Anise.

Awesome!
My partner and I were very impressed with Anise from the moment we arrived. We tried the degustation menu, food only as we had BYO wine. They really looked after our wine, decanted one and even poured our wine all night! The food was beautiful, the crab and pork were outstanding. Great place for a 'special' night out. I thought the degustation was great value, next time we are trying a la carte, will keep you all posted!

An all round fantastic dining experience
We have a great meal at Anise. Everyone at the table was very pleased with their meals (although I think my beef cheek was the pick of the mains), the complimentary bread was delicious and it is great to go to a fine dining restaurant that really didn't seem to mind that we BYO'ed. The service was outstanding and I couldn't fault it.
My only criticism is that vegies have to be ordered as a side dish rather than being included with the mains... which when you're paying over $30/ main is a little cheeky... but it does seem the norm with fine dining places these days.
Highly recommended.
