Capturing the imaginations - and tastebuds - of those Perth hipsters who have been crying out for a new kind of fine food and wine venue, Andaluz Bar & Tapas is quite the charming laneway wine bar to meet this need. Sequestered in the basement of a building from 1905, the decor is appropriately old-fashioned (with a bit of modern finesse), featuring classy chesterfields, a feature fireplace, and plenty of ornate lamps about the place. The Spanish tapas menu is the real deal, including slow-cooked rabbit and chorizo with lentils and pearl barley, wild-caught Exmouth tiger prawns with Moorish spices, and the signature freshly shucked oysters with smoked tomato and Tabasco sorbet. Keeping true to the concept, Andaluz provides an impressive selection of local and international wines, and a mouth-watering series of martinis and manhattans.
