Due to its late opening hours and good food, Amalfi has a strong following among local chefs, who often congregate here when their dinner shifts are over. It has been around for more than 20 years and has become a main player in the field of traditional Italian cuisine in the area. Pizzas are an eternal favourite, meat dishes are tasty and filling, and pasta dishes benefit from rich tomato-based sauces. The ideology of home-style warmth and generosity shows in both food and service.

excellent pizzas but awful for conversation
Amalfi is one of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide, with generous servings (you really only need an entree if you're ordering pasta) and excellent food. The pizzas really are the best in Adelaide. That said, unless you get an outside table, it's almost impossible to have a conversation because it's just too noisy to hear anyone clearly.
Although the service is generally good, the last time I made a group booking I booked an outside table only to arrive and find that they'd given us an inside one. The manager was apologetic for the mistake, and while I would go again, I wouldn't go again with a large group.

They Misled Me
Bought a Pizza from this place and it was advertsied online as $21 ...when I picked it up it was $24 ...when I queried this the staff member just said "Oh well you can't trust people can you" I should have given it back to them on the spot then ...if it wasn't that we had people waiting for a meal I would have
Boy has this place slipped
I wont be going back and besides their pizzas have also slipped below par and was ordinary
This used to be the doyen of Italian restaurants but not now

An old fave...
I have been going to Amalfi for 15 years and still love it. I highly recommend the Con Pollo pasta or any of the veal dishes or the margherita pizza! Service has never been that great and they always seem to make you wait a bit for your table (although I was pleasantly surprised to find our table ready to go on my recent visit), but the atmosphere and food are still great.

Lost the plot
This restaurant has been a favourite in everyone's books for over 15 years, but the current owners don't get it on any level. The staff are inexperienced, and in a hurry. Clearly no one has sat down and told them the history of the restaurant, nor of the brilliant service and customer relations it was famous for. We would not return as a result of this experience. The waitress was young, arrogant, and had no idea. We knew the menu better than the waitress - and we haven't been in a year, as last time the service was bad. The food is hit & miss, whereas there was a time when it was the best in town. Pizzas are lacking imagination and quality toppings. Pasta is slapped together, sometimes cooked well, but the prawn pasta we had was bland. The specials board seems to be a bit better, the calamari was fresh, albeit a bit salty. Overrated, and in need of some serious staff training and customer respect.

Very disappointing
Very bad service right from the start, had to wait 15mins for our table of two even though we booked one week in advance. Inattentive wait staff, pasta was very salty and pizza had very thin topping that was also very salty. Would not go back.

Pizza schmitza... order the fish special!!!
The pasta and pizza are great, but only until one discovers the daily fish special! Or the veal special, or whatever special they are doing that day. Dang, it's all just great. Except the noise level, maybe (not a good place for quiet romantic dinner)... but at least everyone is having a good time.

Best pizza in Adelaide
I've been eating pizza at Amalfi's for more than a decade, and I think it is hands down the best pizza in town. There is nothing better than sitting at one of their outside tables on a hot summer's night, chatting and enjoying good food. Although their other dishes are good, I would come here only if you want a great pizza - it is a mark of how good they are that they do even the simplest of all, the margherita, so well. Highly recommended. Definitely book - otherwise you risk disappointment!
