One of the best Perth has to offer
Let's start off with the bad as to not leave with a sour note as I certainly did not on the night I dined. The only bad thing that happened that night was the people sitting next to us were a bit unruly, which obviously cannot be helped by the staff. Three guys obviously having too much to drink.
On to the good stuff - The entree, the Wotlif Tart, was a perfect way to begin the evening. What was even better, was that afterwards, they brought out a mango sorbet which broke up that gap between the entree and main beautifully.
I had the Morrocan Chicken and my girlfriend had the Red Emperor. Both, we agreed, were amazing. We both enjoyed a couple of glasses from the extensive wine list which is sure to please everyone.
I found the service to be delightful--always pleasant, but subtle in brilliance. I found it to be a refreshing change from the usual dregs of Perth restaurants.
The prices were also incredibly reasonable. I have paid more for worse experiences.
All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be returning

More service like this, please!
The food was excellent, the interesting menu made it difficult to choose. My friend said the oysters Kilpatrick are the best he has ever had, and he has made it his mission to try this dish everywhere in a search for the best. They were indeed good. My chicken and white fish sashimi were awesome. He was not so happy with his stringy, old venison, and the waiter handled his complaint perfectly - offering to have the chef inspect it, and offering to take it off the bill and bring another dish (the pork belly, also good), then checking that the pork was to his satisfaction. The chef didn't handle the complaint so well, and gave the poor waiter some BS story to tell. The extensive wine list is a pleasure, also.

Modern. But disappointing service and food.
After all the hype, Alure was a restaurant that I had been looking forward to going to for a long time. After all, where else can you get a Valhrona chocolate fondant?
Alure replaced Windows at Intercontinental Burswood as the new signature restaurant. It has a modern, well-lit decor with trendy, almost jazzy background music.
As one of the first to arrive at the restaurant, initial impressions were good. However, as the night went on, service went from mediocre to non-existent. Our water ran empty most of the night without an offer of a top-up, our dishes (empty) sat on the table for over 20 minutes and it was another 10 before our dessert orders were taken. Then another 40 minutes before ONE chocolate fondant was served (after being told it would take only 20). Many restaurants run at capacity and a walk around showed Alure was only 2/3 full. Not once were we asked how our meals were. Our jackets were not taken. Napkins not placed upon our laps. This certainly was NOT a fine-dining establishment.
Food was average and disappointing again for a signature hotel restaurant. I have visited every fine-dining hotel restaurant in Perth on many occasions and felt that the balance of the food was just not there. Average food I would expect from an average diner but not a hyped, modern and new restaurant like Alure.
The oysters kilpatrick were unbalanced with too much BBQ sauce. It felt like eating a mouthful of ham with BBQ sauce overpowering the oysters themselves. The marron was overpowered by excessive cream with the truffle in the oil non-existent. The bread hard, not fresh.
To their credit, the steak was perfectly cooked, one inch thick and tender. And the lamb rack cooked to satisfaction.
Onto the chocolate fondant that took three quarters of an hour to arrive. Slightly overcooked and dry on the outside and the chocolate sauce - lacking the complexity of quality chocolate. Perhaps they added too much sugar? Cream?
All-in-all a disappointing dinner. Sure, it's not all 'that' bad and for the less discerning palate, probably satisfactory. But it is worlds below ever achieving a Gold Plate and at the price, I expected much better.
