With views like this, remaining stationary would be a waste, so in the time-honoured tradition of such elevated restaurants, Alto revolves. One revolution takes a lazy 85 minutes - just enough time for a couple of courses and perhaps a cheeky bottle of wine. The task of providing enough interest on the plate is well met in the kitchen, where seasonal mod-Oz-meets-European reigns supreme in dishes like Riverina lamb fillet, served with pommes duchesse, celeriac and white pepper creme and lentil vinaigrette.

Birthday dinner
A great destination for a special dinner. The views and modern decor were superb, with great mood lighting. Seeing a storm come rolling in at eye level was pretty cool. Service was slow, but the food was very tasty. Small serves, but high quality. It was a bit expensive, but I guess the restaurant doesn't revolve for free. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

An expensive view!
The view from the restaurant is beautiful at night and I'd imagine that it would be breathtaking in daylight. The oysters for entree was passable. Of the 4 mains ordered, the spatchcock and the fish were good but did not justify being 41$ a dish while the lamb and the pork were either too salty or tasteless. The highlight of the dinner was the dessert (dark chocolate and cherries). The dark chocolate pudding was the right temperature and delicious!! However, the service, which unfortunately forms a big part of the dining experience, was appalling!! One would expect that for a restaurant as high end as that, it would atleast have good service if not great! Instead the waitstaff were disengaging, curt to the point of being rude, had possibly forgotten how to smile, failing miserably at creating an atmosphere that people would want to go back to. In my opinion, it is definitely not worth the money! The only thing that would make me go back would be the view, which can be seen from the viewing gallery for a far less price !!

no denying the atmosphere
The place has an awe inspiring outlook - no arguements there. The arguement came when we asked about our meal nearly an hour after ordering. The service became just plain rude and told us to wait for kitchen to be ready. The food wasn't what we hoped. It was what you could get anywhere. It just cost a lot more. We did enjoy the view though.

Great night out
It is expencive but I think it's worth it, I do agree with an earlier review that the serves might be a bit on the small side. Best service I've had in Canberra.

A gourmet experience - esspecially when the company is paying!
We had our work Christmas party here last year, and i must say the food was delicious, although very small serve size. I would like to see a more filling meal, especially when paying such a large amount of money per course.
The desserts were a little strange, i remember little glass cubes of liquored jelly scattered around something small and chocolate, and the cheese platter was just gorgeous, and the dried fruits were very rich.
We found the service fantastic, there might have been a delay, we were there for a long time, but the waiter was on the ball with filling our glasses and was friendly and down to earth.
A lovely place to eat, the view is amazing, but maybe a review of the serving sizes for the price. Definitely something i would consider before coming back a second time.

A pillar of salt
The views and atmosphere sadly could not compensate for ridiculous delays. There was over an hour and a half wait between ordering and the arrival of the mains; the entree arrived in good time, however the wait between entre and main was over an hour. Unfortunately, the mains were not up to expectation. While the produce was excellent, I would have to say that it was the saltiest meal that I can recall consuming. I was disappointed with the experience as I feel that the restaurant has the potential to deliver a great night out.

Good food, pleasant service, great views
Aside from the entrance (makes me feel like a tourist) entering the restaurant you get a warm feeling with the redecorated interior. Stepping onto the rotating floor and sitting down takes a bit of getting used to. Watching the table move along the wall may give some people motion sickness but hey it's a rotating restaurant so what do you expect.
Complimentary sweet corn soup was warm and smooth with a nice sweet flavour. Excellent. Entrees and mains were well served, drinks were timely and service was prompt and friendly.
Price is on the expensive side, but well worth it for a special experience.

Too expensive when the service doesn't match the fantastic food
Compliments to the chef. Absolutely fantastic meal! I can't speak highly enough of the food. Love the view. Miserable waitress. White wine wasn't chilled enough. To top it off they had a wedding booked for the same time, stopped the rotation and piped the wedding music and celebrant through the whole restaurant. Atmosphere was great until the wedding arrived. It couldn't hurt to inform customers making bookings that they have a wedding booked for the same time. Focus on the service and atmosphere and you'll have a great restaurant guys. PS. it's rude to charge for bread rolls.

Alto tower, a long way to go to wait
Wonderful food, dreadful service. Too many noisy kids, and long delays in the kitchen. Staff with attitude and no care for the customer. Don't complain to the manager, I just called him, he didn't seem to care.
