Shakespeare once mused on the notion of what is in a name. (A rose by any other name, etc. You remember.) Well, at this sleek yet casual wine bar-cum-tapas lounge, the name says it all. Alto (A Little Taste Of) offers a taste of Mediterranean-inspired, modern cuisine in comfortable surrounds. The space is divided into the lounge area and the dining room, all revolving around the central motif bar.
Their breakfast burrito is slowly but surely gathering a loyal following of those who it has magically cured from their late-night escapades, but it's definitely not the only hero from the menu here. The steamed black mussels with saffron creme fraiche, leek, parsley and crusty bread aren't always available, but when they are, there are few dishes that can top the medley of warming flavours.
