There's not a meat pie in sight on the menu here. A pub owned by footballers may prompt hasty assumptions about the tucker it offers, but Adelaide Crows players Mark Ricciuto and Simon Goodwin offer bistro meals worthy of their stylish surrounds.
The smart refurbishment includes a spacious dining room with padded seating and a bank of funky booths. A slate feature wall has a head-height fireplace inserted into it, competing for attention with several plasma screens. If you feel food and conversation, not sport, should be the focus of a meal then avert your eyes; thankfully, the menu makes this easy with many tasteful distractions.
Have the cork pulled on some Bendbrook Goat Track Shiraz while you decide between Peking duck risotto and oven-baked chicken breast with crispy pancetta, roma tomatoes and wilted spinach. If you're considering pan-seared Atlantic salmon or prawns sauteed in a creamy garlic sauce, a nice Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc might be more your style. Wrap up the meal with chocolate mousse cake or a mini citrus tart with passionfruit.
