"Alegria" means "joy" in Spanish, so it's no surprise that this sophisticated but earthy bistro trades on the palpable joy that a culinary experience can bring. Alegria Mediterranean Bistro & Bar, or Bistro Alegria for short, replicates a regional European-style bar and bistro in the heart of the buzzing Milton dining strip.
Across tapas, light lunch, a la carte dinner and weekend breakfast menus, head chef Lorenzo Nobilio incorporates French, Greek, Italian and Spanish influences into the Mediterranean mode of Alegria. Such titillating mains include the seafood and vegetarian paellas, the Moroccan-braised lamb shanks, and porchetta slow-roasted spiced pork belly. From the desserts, it's a hard choice between the blood orange and rosewater sorbet with almond-laced biscuits, and the ever-popular chocolate-dipped churros. Add plenty of local and imported beverages for that extra splash of joy.
