The Albert Park Hotel is no longer a dingy pub space offering bangers and mash, chewy steak and a pot of the local beer-of-the-moment to wash it down. Not even slightly. These days in the airy bistro space, you'll find varnished floorboard in place of beer-soaked carpet and sleek tables where the cigarette burnt countertops would once have been. The exposed roofing and open-plan, split-level rooms impart a feeling of young modern rather than dingy old-man.
The choice available for consumption couldn't be less pubbish. For starters, the dishes are as imaginative as they are interesting. The Asian-Mediterranean blend inspires some delightful combinations. Fingers crossed the whole organic barbequed chicken remains on the menu for some time to come. The bird is served on long kipfler potatoes with a stewing blend of capers, olives, eggplant and peppers. You may have to dig a little deeper in the wallet for a bottle of vino but you will not be that hard pressed to make a selection.

Great Bistro in Albert Park
This is my third time eating at the Albert Park Hotel bistro and it is definitely worth trying. They have a $35 lunch special with 2 courses plus glass of wine and tea/coffee.
The food was delicious, not huge but that's ok its lunch! Service was very friendly. I have also eaten with a big group for dinner which was also brillant - the chef there certainly knows how to cook good seasonal food.

Albert Park Hotel
One of the many Melbourne pubs now offering genuine restaurant quality meals. The menu is more exciting than the food but it's but one would be ungracious to complain about a lunch time special of 2 courses and a glass of wine for $30 or an extra course for $10 more when everything about the place is more than reasonable. It's respectably modern, clean and unpretentious.
