On entering Ahmet's, diners are assaulted by a riot of colours. Richly patterned fabrics are draped over all surfaces and drip from the ceiling, evoking images of Ottoman tents housing harems of Turkish concubines. Nothing so deliciously sordid takes place within these walls, but the gyrating belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights do contribute to the exotic atmosphere. The menu features a bewildering selection of traditional Turkish cuisine (with more meze options than you can throw a falafel at), marinated grilled meats and hearty claypot casseroles.

Great experience with a big smile
If I had to give points to "Ahmet's" in terms of quality and service,I would have given 150 out of 100 :)...
Being a Foodie, I always explore the different cuisines and AHMET'S in indeed one of the Turkish restaurants who deserves a round of applause ...
Great food Great service The best cluck for your buck :)
Go on champions... Will get 12 more customers to you :)

Great Food, Poor Service
Would agree with a lot of previous reviewers: the food is good, some dishes great, but service is poor. We counted 21 staff on a Sunday night, including at least 14 floor staff but most had no idea what they were doing, a definite need for a floor manager or 2 here. I am not an expert on Turkish food, but Ahmets dishes are mostly traditional & delicious, have yet to experience a bland or bad dish in 3 visits, desserts are hard to resist even after the large main servings. So long as you can handle bad but friendly service the food is definitely worth it.

Poor Service
I had a dinner with 4 of my friends last night and we booked a reservation at 7pm. When we got there we were so hungry 'cos we just came after work. Generally, food was excellent but the service is so terrible. It took us more than 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. We had asked we're ready to order and he said he's gonna come back. When he came back he's supposed to take our order but the adjacent table called him and he attended that table. He ignores as for a while and later on a waitress came and just poured our glasses with water. We informed her that we're ready to order and she said that she's gonna inform one of the guys. It's a nice restaurant with brilliant ambience but terrible service! We're not going back there again.

Late Lunch 2pm
Huge meals, lovely food. Drinks took a while to arrive but recommend them - we each tried a different cocktail. Great atmosphere, loved the decor, acted like tourists taking photos with the different backdrops - filled in time while waiting for drinks. Topped off with Turkish coffee.Yum. Would definitely go again.

Belly full of Ahmet's
If you love nice food that isn't too expensive, courteous staff and great entertainment in a great location you've got to give this one a go. They have belly dancing on a Friday and Saturday night so get on down. This is in my top 5 in Brissy.

Four of us went here for lunch. Food was very tasty. Took us ages to get a drink, so we only had one. Food was great though when it did arrive.

enjoyable
This is possibly my all-time favourite Turkish restaurant. I have been there many times over the past 2 years and whenever I return to Brisbane it's on my list of places to visit, however short my stay. The food is perfect, generously portioned and rich in flavour. I've sampled most of the menu and have yet to be disappointed.
The service has been occasionally slow, but not the worst I've experienced by far and the atmosphere is so fun and lively that unless you're really starving you probably won't notice!
Be sure to try the coffee!

Most disappointed...
After reading other reviews, I thought I would give this restaurant a try with some visiting friends. There were plenty of waitstaff but we struggled to get their attention - and more than a single menu for a table of 11 people! The few drink orders we had were forgotten on several occasions, or were only delivered after a visit to the front counter - once is forgivable, but repeated mistakes from several waitstaff made it difficult to stomach when small children have to wait over 30 minutes for a lemonade! On the plus side, the food was quite nice, although some long waits in between courses of the banquet. A beautiful looking venue with enormous potential for an enjoyable dining experience, although soured by service - and it wasn't even a busy Friday or Saturday night!

Food ok, service great
Interesting the feedback from previous diners here. I've yet to find any Southbank restaurant that serves amazing food. Ahmet's does it OK, their lamb hotpot is great! The staff were fine, plenty of them and they were there when we needed anything. I dined there as organiser of a dining group that visits a different resturant each week - Ahmets is one that we enjoy visiting 2-3 times a year.

Good Food
We were recommended to go there by our friends. The food was great and the atmosphere great. But the service was very poor. We had to wait just to get a waiter to notice us to get a seat, and then wait for a while to get the menu and order. The place wasn't even that busy when we were there. Seems that the waiters were more interested in talking to each other than serving. Next time, I think we will go elsewhere.

Not too bad
I could get a substantial discount here, been here a few times as a result. Food quality is inconsistent I think...especially on hectic weekend nights. Sometimes the food is excellent, and other times like this 'Iskander' dish I ordered, quite bland and tasteless. Excellent choice to throw a party at, the ambience on weekend nights is unbelievable.
It is still winning awards, and my brother adores this restaurant...so they must be doing something right.

Overrated
The food was bland, unimaginative and tasteless. The service was terrible, we didn't get to eat till 9.30pm, had to complain for the first time ever! Despite that I really liked the atmosphere, the belly dancer was fun and the noisy crowd made the restaurant feel like you were transported to Turkey. Maybe on a less demanding night for the kitchen it would be better or maybe I just drank too much waiting for the food.
