Agapi

Although it's a little too formal here to perform Zorba's dance on the tables, the home-style Greek cooking is likely to prompt a little involuntary jig of delight. The menu provides a wide assortment of seafood dishes as well as a great selection from the grill, but traditional options such as moussaka and laxano dolmades are the obvious favourites. The restaurant is open every day from noon, serving a steady stream of baklava-craving diners.

Traditional Greek food at the best place in town
Agapi was a great choice to celebrate a 45th birthday. When we ordered our entrees and mains the service was not so speedy, but it was worth it. The Saganaki was YUM! and the pita bread was too perfect for me. For our mains my brother had a veal fillet Saganaki and i had the traditional Greek Moussaka. The vegetables served next to them were quite soggy so i did not get to finish them, but the Moussaka was a great hit.
I did not see one waiter smile throughout the whole night, this was not pleasing.
Overall it was a great night: cosy, warm, and awesome food.

Food Under Fire
Whilst wandering past a couple of restaurants, Agapi had a nice warm and inviting appeal to it so we ventured in. The general atmosphere didn't disappoint at all and it seemed to me that everyone was enjoying themselves, apart from the overtly abrupt staff. The food was very nice and whilst the atmosphere was good, I almost felt under fire every time one of the staff approached or grunted at us, particularly to tell us it was 'late' and the meal we requested had sold out. My recommendation would be if it's too late or too busy, turn people away rather than turn people off. Maybe it was bad timing, but considering Melbourne has the second biggest Greek population outside of Greece, I think I will seeking other more well rounded establishments to try in the future.

Brilliant
Agapi never fails to deliver superb Greek offerings visit after visit. The warm homely atmosphere complements the down to earth dishes perfectly. All the favourites are there along with a few dishes that you won't find at every Greek restaurant.

The lamb is always perfect and don't forget to order a serve of the green beans (not on the menu).
