This former milkbar/art gallery-turned-cafe displays a certain cosy charm with its communal table, drummed down decor, indie soundtrack and padded milk crates which serve as outdoor seating for the students and families who eat there. All egg and chicken produce is free range, the bread is organic and the dishes are typical cafe fare: favourites include Henry's white beans in garlic and rosemary, served with rocket, dukkah and toast; and The Mumbler, featuring poached eggs on toast with pesto, fetta spinach and fresh tomato.

Good food, mediocre service - look elsewhere
We live very close, so have been coming here for years. We love the food, and regularly visited for a lazy breakfast, but recently every visit is getting more disappointing unfortunately. Every now and then we come back, hoping things will have improved, but they don't seem to be getting any better.
The staff don't seem to notice when customers arrive - once we had to wait 35 minutes before being offered menus! Today we came just for coffees, the place was relatively quiet, and we were waiting 10 minutes without anyone coming to take our order, while four staff were chatting behind the counter.
Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but the overall experience is ruined by the lack of service, and the treatment by the staff - not that they're angry or directly rude, they all think they're too cool for school.

Brunch
Was very crowded when I turned up at about 10.30am. But didn't have to wait long for a seat - was told the wait would be 15 mins, but it was only a little over 5 mins. I had a Brazillian breakfast - poached eggs on toast with spinach, white beans and tomato. Delicious - especially the beans, which were quite different to regular baked beans. The menu is a bit limited, but what is on offer is tasty and good quality. I don't drink coffee so no idea if their coffee is any good.
