You can't keep a good chef down. Nowhere does this ring more true than with chef Jacky Frenot. After a 47-year career that has included stints at Ma Maison and La Banque, the French-born chef just can't stay away, this time opening his latest Gallic diner in South Yarra.
It's been an unhappy site for restaurateurs in the past, with Haggers, Les Boucheries Parisiennes and 268 on Toorak all failing to make the venue work. However, with Frenot's classic French training and deft touch, something tells us A La Bouffe won't fall victim to the same pitfalls as its predecessors.

Great Authentic French restaurant
although its a bistro, its really authentic, French speaking waiter, owner, chef, deco. Once you stepped through the door, you pretty much are in France ! me and my wife had a great night there, luckily we booked because the place is very popular with regulars. lots of french customers. we were feel very welcome with the friendly waiter ( approx 1 per 3 tables) so good level of attentive service. Excellent food and atmosphere, we would be back there again for sure and with our friends ! location is suitable for romantic occasion or family/friend dinner. we parked at the wilson car park across the road for $12 and just walked across (100meters) so location is good. highly recommend the eye fillet and the snail :p , and make sure you save room for desert thank you a la bouffe for a most excellent night out.
