Alright food with terrible service.
I have had the opportunity to try the lunch time Yum Cha and also their dinner menu on a few occasions. Firstly, I suggest that you do not arrive too early to Yum Cha as you will most likely receive yesterday's leftovers (according to one of the staff members). That being said, I found the Yum Cha quite delicious with a large variety of things to try. Lunch time service was alright as the girls/guys are constantly patroling the tables and willing to help you make a good decision.

Dinner was a little bit of a disapointment with many of the dishes lacking in a number of areas. I recommend you do not eat the Peking Duck as it is overpriced, small servings and lacks the quality and presentation of other restaurants.

The dinner service was one of the worst I have ever encountered. If you are lucky enough to find a waitress that doesn't ignore you, don't expect a friendly smile or any chit chat. You almost feel the need to apologise everytime you order a drink. Unfortunately there are no good points to make about the dinner service: food was slow, orders lost, food dishes casually dropped on the table and just a general lack of interest to even provide anything that resembles good service.

Could be better
Ordered 8 dishes and 2 were not what we ordered, but tasted fine and nicely presented. The table service of the peking duck was clumsy and unrefine with 7 portions on separate plates for 4 people. But the steam live fish was very good. Ordered steamed rice which never came.
Ordered second round of drinks which was wrong and the Hanh light beer was old beer and tasted odd. Service was below average but the decor is new, bright and well above average. On the night the service was unattentive and it was not even busy. The waiters should have some training on basic waiting courtesy to smile just a bit and be happier when serving paying customers. I believe this restaurant should look at dining as an opportunity for improvement on the dinner table service and not the same culture as yum cha. Table service this night was poor compared to other regional and local Chinese restaurants and cafes.

Best yum cha I have had for a while
On the way out of Brisbane, I really wanted to have yum cha. Yum cha on the Gold Coast is usually a bit disappointing and in China Town only a little better. After reading the reviews on this page, thought that it would be worth checking out Landmark. It has just undergone serious renos. We booked and arrived really hungry at about 11:30am. My dubious Greek friend was worried that a joint in a shopping centre in the burbs would have really stale food and not have enough turnover. The joint was Cantonese glam and packed to the rafters. A few round eyes, but mainly Chinese families and associates. Plentiful trolleys and an extensive range of choices. Everything was good... and quite a few things that this yum cha addict had never seen before. Tip: they have a couple of side stations where you can kind of jump the trolley wait for bbq and greens and some of the sweet stuff. By midday the queues looked like Marigold and Kam Fook (Sydney on a Sunday... this was a Wednesday!) It was also cheap. $55 for 3 adults and 1 child.

One of the best
I am not someone who is overly fond of dim sum, and I only have it once in a long while. But I have to say something in defense of Landmark restaurant. As an ethnic Chinese customer who is intimately familiar with authentic Cantonese cuisine and has dined at Landmark several times, it is in my opinion one of the best yum cha joints in Brisbane. At least, close enough to the level of superlative Cantonese food found only in select locales like its home province of Guangdong, or elsewhere in Hong Kong, Melbourne etc. For one, most dim sum dishes are meant to be light, not make you feel like you've swallowed a bowling ball, as I have experienced in other yum cha joints.

I've never encountered any overtly rude or insulting service, but don't expect them to be accomodating either (for that matter, from most Cantonese-run eateries and restaurants...gruffness and no-frills service seem to go hand in hand with properly made Cantonese food). With no-frills restaurants like these that don't espouse to be silver spoon fine-diners or swanky overpriced bistros, you're there for the food. As far as I am concerned, none of the yum cha served in Chinatown can hold a candle to Landmark.

Don't expect your food to arrive soon
We waited for an hour to have our order taken (had to ask 4 different staff members before someone would come to take the order), another 45 minutes for food to arrive with one meal not arriving incorrectly after other meals where almost completely eaten. Replacement meal was the original meal re-served with different sauce. White wine was served unchilled.
Staff were indifferent to requests for assistance.

Always Busy
I've been three times now to Landmark, each time for yum cha. It's a busy, noisy place and very large. The service is slow and if you are seated in a bad spot, you don't see much food. Once you do, it's pretty good and about the average you'd expect to pay for yum cha dishes.
